Each Cape Cobra for Maison Mara bag is stitched by hand from panels that have been individually cut from carefully selected leathers. Their artisans train for four decades and use traditional techniques known as maroquinerie, or leathercraft.
This Oryx ostrich version comes with a customized Maison Mara Strap, a thin cross body strap, a vanity mirror and small purse. There is an inside pocket and flat pocket at the back.
The main leather on the back and front flap is oryx ostrich, the side details inspired by Maison Mara interiors are natural python and the front is a thick Italian woven canvas. The lining is a durable and luxurious goats suede. The hardware is gold plated brass. The custom strap is a mix and match of ostrich and python and the thin cross body strap is a mix of nappa and python.
The Natural Python is imported from Indonesia. The Oryx and Black Ostrich is farmed in South Africa.
About Cape Cobra
All Cape Cobra’s leather is sourced in strict accordance with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) that regulate the international trade in wildlife and products. That said, Cape Cobra does not source any skins from the wild. Instead, they work with local suppliers to facilitate a culture of best practice in traceability and conservation. It also ensures that they can trace the origins and treatment of every skin.
